Barrie’s downtown and waterfront will become even more of a hot spot soon.

The municipality is rolling out a five-phase plan for free Wi-Fi in the area, starting next year. Under the plan, the first three phases — which includes Meridian Place and the waterfront and walking trails between Heritage Park and the Southshore Community Centre — will be completed by March.
